Canvas KITE

Performative object
Acrylic gesso, canvas, wood, staples, hanging hardware
2013-2014
20” x 20”

When I moved away from Las Vegas I began reimagining the painter’s canvas as a utilitarian device related to the body. Canvas Kite (2013) was one of the earliest paintings I built by attaching a kite tail to a conventional painter's canvas. I flew the painting twice, once outside of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston in 2013 and again at the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in 2014.
